A Federal Excessive Court docket in Kano has put aside the Kano State Emirate Regulation 2024, which dissolved the 5 Emirates in Kano State
The courtroom dismissed all steps taken by the Kano State Authorities to repeal the Kano Emirates Council Regulation relied upon by the state to dethrone the fifteenth Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero and 4 others.
Justice Abdullahi Muhammad Liman, whereas ruling on Thursday, put aside the motion of Kano authorities, ordering events to take care of establishment.
Recall that the Kano Home of Meeting had repealed the regulation enthroning the fifteenth Emir and institution of further 4 emirate councils – Bichi, Rano Karaye and Gaya, by the speedy previous governor of the state, Dr, Abdullahi Ganduje.
The incumbent governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf had applied the repealed regulation by dethroning Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero as Emir of Kano to reinstall the dethroned 14th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi.
A kingmaker within the former Kano emirate, Aminu Babba Danagundi, the Sarkin Dawaki Babba, had dragged the state authorities to problem the propriety of the regulation and requested the courtroom, by his counsel, Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN), to declare it null and void.
