Humility and Knowledge
If I might break away from the ego’s grasp,
And let go of pleasure’s alluring clasp,
I’d discover myself within the mud beneath,
The place humbleness and knowledge develop.
For it isn’t in grandeur or gold,
However within the earth’s mushy contact, so chilly,
That true enlightenment takes its place,
And man sees life with gentler grace.
The self’s illusions fall away,
Like shadows on the dawn.
Solely then, with eyes anew,
I’d see the reality in all that’s due.
Now not blind to what’s small,
I’d honor every name.
For within the mud, and the clay,
The soul finds its rightful manner.
