The organised labour, on Friday, shut down the headquarters of the Nigeria Social Insurance coverage Belief Fund (NSITF) in protest over the alleged non-remittance of N2.1 billion in consequential taxes deducted from employees’ salaries.
Led by Commerce Union Congress (TUC) president, Festus Osifo, and govt members of the Affiliation of Banks, Insurance coverage, and Monetary Establishments (ASSBIFE), the protesters took to the streets, demanding motion.
Osifo acknowledged that the protest and subsequent shutdown of the Fund grew to become obligatory after failed makes an attempt by ASSBIFE management to resolve the difficulty with NSITF administration.
