Ondo Varsity Sacks DVC Over ‘Frivolous Petition’ Towards Establishment’s Administration


The Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC), Administration and Scientific Providers of the Ondo State-owned College of Medical Science (UNIMED), Ondo, Prof. Adolphus Loto, has been sacked for writing a petition towards the establishment’s Administration.

An announcement issued by the Assistant Registrar, Public Relations Unit of the establishment, Temitope Oluwatayo, stated the sack adopted the adoption and ratification of the Senate’s determination by the Governing Council at its twenty second Statutory assembly held on the Council Chamber, Medical Village Campus, Ondo.

Oluwatayo stated, “The choice of the Senate was predicated on the previous DVC’s unbecoming conduct together with frivolous, spurious and unsubstantiated allegations towards the College Administration

“The Governing Council had earlier referred to Prof. Loto’s 13-page petition in addition to the responses of the Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar and the Bursar to the Petitions Committee of Council appointed to research and make correct suggestions.

“The Petitions Committee of Council (PCC) discovered the allegations unfaithful, baseless, embarrassing to the College group and liable to deliver the College to disrepute, given Prof. Loto’s place because the Deputy Vice-Chancellor.

“UNIMED Senate, on Monday, April 29, 2024, thought-about the report of the PCC and beneficial the removing of Prof. Loto because the Deputy Vice-Chancellor by an amazing majority with 100% of the voters approving his removing as DVC Admin.

“The choice was premised on the actual fact Prof. Loto made false claims towards members of employees of the college, disclosed confidential and official data liable to trigger a breach of peace within the college group.

“UNIMED Professional-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council, Prof. Ayodele Arowojolu, whereas addressing the Council, famous {that a} unanimous determination of the Senate speaks volumes concerning the insecurity in Prof. Loto by his educational friends to stay within the workplace of DVC Admin.”

The Governing Council of the College, thereafter, authorized the decision of the College Senate for the removing of Prof. Loto as DVC.
